2017 Health and Safety Conference

The FSANL 6th Annual Health and Safety Conference was a huge success this year thanks to our presenters, sponsors and delegates. We had a great turnout to our event this year with almost 100 people in attendance.

Our theme this year was “Safety Here, There and Everywhere”. Safety is not just a consideration for the work place but must be applied to all areas of our lives. More injuries happen at home and during recreational activities than in the work place. We must remember that the safety lessons we learn at work are just as important at home.

As well FSANL was delighted to host the National Forum of Forestry Safety Associations (NFFSA) Annual meeting the day before the conference. FSANL was also pleased to have national members Tom Welton from Work Safety North in Ontario and Jan Michaelsen from FPInnovations in Quebec City to present at our conference.

I would like to extend a special thank you to our presenters for taking the time to share your knowledge and expertise with our delegates. Safety is a message that must be shared far and wide and is not something to keep to ourselves.

Perry Pollard is a Safety Advisor with Newfoundland Power’s, Safety and Environment Department, Perry presented on electrical safety while working around energized electrical equipment.

Tom Welton is the Industrial Director of Prevention Services; Work Safety North (Ontario) Tom gave a presentation on the lock out technology challenges for heavy equipment.

Dennis Hogan Chief Executive Officer with WorkplaceNL gave an update on the emerging trends in the industry.
